Teresa Quintel joins Complianza

Stockholm, Sweden. Complianza Sweden AB is pleased to announce that Teresa Quintel, LL.M. is joining the company as independent Data Protection Expert, who will be responsible for updating the company’s social media channels. Teresa is a PhD Candidate at the University of Luxembourg and Uppsala University since November 2016. Apart from her research and teaching activities, Teresa has published on various topics in the context of data protection and privacy legislation, spoke at several conferences and was one of the Council of Europe experts who assisted in drafting the Nigerian data protection legislation. Previously, she worked in the private sector both in Luxembourg and Sweden.

Teresa will continue her work as PhD Candidate in EU Data Protection Law at the University of Luxembourg and Uppsala University.

While I have worked closely with a number of experts from academia, policy making and the private sector, I found that Complianza offered a team of people with unique skills in the field of technical compliance and I was very intrigued by their concept of ‘Compliance as a Service’, to add on my experience in this field from a more practical perspective”, Teresa said. “I will be able to draw on the team for inspiration in my work and the team will get deeper insights into the thoughts behind the relevant EU data protection legislation, most notably, the GDPR.”

Teresa’s field of expertise comprises, inter alia, EU databases and interoperability, CJEU-case law in the field of privacy, data protection and data retention, data protection in relation to AML procedures and the transfer of personal data to third countries outside the EU. Moreover, Teresa has been working on hate speech, illegal content online and notice-and-take down procedures. Teresa’s latest article evaluated the developments concerning transborder access to personal data by law enforcement authorities, in which she assesses the second additional protocol to the CoE Cybercrime Convention, the U.S. Cloud Act and the EU Commission’s e-evidence Proposal.

We are very happy to have Teresa onboard as a data protection expert,” said Christer Hutchinson-Kay, Managing Partner of Complianza. “Her academic expertise in EU data protection law will help us better understand the complexity of GDPR provisions and related legislation.”
